When most people hear the words "blockchain technology," they think of cryptocurrencies. And depending on the year, "crypto" will either get people very excited or make their brains shut off and their eyes roll.
This is probably because it seems like every 24-hour news cycle shares the latest crypto scandal, or news of how different currencies are plummeting while others are soaring.
Jim Cramer, host of CNBC's Mad Money and Investing Club, for example, has gone from suggesting putting up to 5 percent of your investments in crypto because "There are fortunes made in crypto" to saying things like, "I would not touch crypto in a million years."
